Sunset Scenic Rides

A brand new summer experience, Sunset Scenic Ride, is launching at Cypress Mountain starting August 1st. Witness the unique and breathtaking 360 views from the top of Mount Strachan!

WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. – July 31, 2025 — Cypress Mountain is launching a brand-new summer experience: the Sunset Scenic Ride, beginning August 1, 2025. This stunning mountain top, scenic experience invites guests to ascend to 1,440 metres (4,720 feet)—the highest lift-accessed sunset viewpoint on the North Shore Mountains – via the Lions and Sky quad chair lifts.

The scenic ride runs daily, but operations are extended every Thursday through Sunday evenings from August 1 to August 31, 2025, for this immersive experience offering sweeping 360-degree views of Ch'ích'iyúy Elx̱wíḵn (the Lions or Twin Sisters), Átl'ka7tsem (Howe Sound), Gulf Islands, Vancouver city skyline, Mount Baker and beyond—all bathed in the golden glow of sunset. For every scenic ride sold this summer, $1 will be donated to the BC Parks Foundation, supporting conservation efforts across the province.

“This is a completely new way to experience Cypress Mountain in the summer,” said Matt Davies, General Manager of Cypress Mountain. “At 4,720 feet, you’re not just watching the sunset—you’re surrounded by it.”

Guests can also enjoy a pre-sunset meal at the Crazy Raven Bar & Grill located at the base of Mount Strachan and Black Mountain (915 m/ 3,000 ft). Featuring BC craft beer, cocktails and a full-service menu, the restaurant offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Every Thursday, the entertainment continues with a live acoustic set at the top of Sky Chair.

Starting August 1, the sun sets at 8:50 p.m. and will set at 7:55 p.m. by August 31, so plan accordingly and allow 30 minutes to ride the two chairlifts to the summit. The experience is weather-dependent, with the last ride up Lions Chair at 8:45 p.m. and the final descent from Sky Chair at 9:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress for mountain conditions.

Sunset chasers, nature lovers, or those simply looking for a new way to enjoy summer evenings can escape the ordinary to experience the Sunset Scenic Ride.
