Red Bull Hardline

Cypress Mountain will host the first-ever Canadian edition of Red Bull Hardline on October 17, 2026, bringing the world's toughest downhill mountain bike race to Vancouver’s North Shore. The invitation-only competition puts the planet's most elite male and female riders against a course so steep, rugged, and technically demanding terrain that simply finishing is considered a feat.

Cypress Mountain

The World's Toughest Downhill Race. On Our Mountain.

For the first time ever, Canada hosts Red Bull Hardline, and it's happening right here at Cypress Mountain. On October 17, 2026, the world's most elite downhill mountain bikers will descend on Vancouver's North Shore to compete for the inaugural title of Red Bull Hardline British Columbia.

The invitation-only competition puts the planet's most elite male and female riders against a course so steep, rugged, and technically demanding terrain that simply finishing is considered a feat.

The Red Bull Hardline course at Cypress Mountain will be unlike any other downhill track on the circuit. Think massive jumps and gap sections, sheer drops exceeding 10 metres, technical rock gardens, and descents steep enough to make even the seasoned pros think twice. The course borrows elements from dirt jumping and BMX — features that aren’t permitted in traditional World Cup racing — making it unlike anything else in the sport.

What is Red Bull Hardline?

Created in 2014 by Dan and Gee Atherton, Red Bull Hardline was built to go beyond the limits of World Cup racing. Where traditional races are constrained by UCI rules, Hardline has no such limits. The course borrows from dirt jumping, BMX, and motocross to create a line that is as breathtaking to watch as it is terrifying to ride.

Expect:

  1. Massive jumps and gap sections
  2. Drops of 10 metres or more
  3. Technical rock gardens
  4. Steep, natural descents that only the world's best can handle

After a decade at its original home in Wales and its recent expansion to Tasmania, Canada is proud to be the third home of Red Bull Hardline.

Why Cypress Mountain?

The North Shore is the birthplace of freeride mountain biking. This is where riders first pushed the limits of what was possible on a bike, where the culture of going bigger, steeper, and faster was born. Cypress Mountain sits at the centre of that legacy with steep, technical alpine terrain that needs to be seen to be believed.

Red Bull Hardline didn't come to Canada by accident. It came here because this is exactly where it belongs.

Homegrown Heroes Helping Shape the Course

Two of Canada's top riders, Jackson Goldstone and Gracey Hemstreet, have been working together with the Atherton brothers to design the Cypress Mountain course.

  • Gracey Hemstreet made history by securing back-to-back victories at Red Bull Hardline Tasmania, making her the first woman in history to win two Red Bull Hardline events — after becoming the inaugural women's champion in 2025.
  • Jackson Goldstone claimed his first Red Bull Hardline title in 2022 and went on to win the 2025 UCI Downhill World Cup Overall title.
"After walking the future Red Bull Hardline track, I'm pretty intimidated but excited — I think this will be the best one yet. Everyone's going to be so stoked, and the crowd is going to be huge. Bringing Red Bull Hardline to Canada is something everyone has wanted, and it's super exciting it's finally happening,” said Gracey Hemstreet, the reigning Hardline champion."

What to Expect on Race Day

Red Bull Hardline British Columbia is a spectator-friendly event designed to put fans close to the action. The course’s natural amphitheater-style terrain and dramatic features make it ideal for on-mountain viewing, with massive jumps and steep drops visible from spectator zones. Details on ticketing and access will be announced in the coming months.
