What an absolute treat we were able to enjoy on Sunday — Snowshoe & Fondue!
On the way up the mountain, we stopped briefly at the lookout to enjoy the view of the city. Breathtaking, really. A great vantage point to see Vancouver. Then once at the top, the six of us in our group got suited up with snow shoes and headlamps for our wonderful guided tour (approx. 6-10:00 pm).
Kelvin, our lovely guide, made our experience fun and informative. We learned about the history of the mountain and the Hollyburn Lodge, how to distinguish between the various trees, and how to survive in the wilderness should we ever have to unintentionally spend the night. All great stuff!
We hiked, we laughed, we went sliding, and then we got to eat! The Hollyburn Lodge is so warm and comfy, with a great table set for our feast. We started with salad, then a fantastic cheese fondue, and then…chocolate fondue!! Oh my, what a feast indeed.
Another great experience at Cypress, and one that I was able to share with some of my favourite people. Get a group together yourselves and check it out. Still lots of snow to enjoy!
