Happy International Women’s Day!!
This ski report is my husband’s amazing account of his adventures this fine Wednesday.
We just returned from a five-day ski trip along Powder Highway, where all of the resorts offered us generous discounts because of our Cypress Season’s passes 🙂
I am very sad to say I had prior commitments upon our return, so could not join my husband today. However, here is what he was blessed with . . .
Powder, Powder, Powder!!
I left the house super early this morning to capitalize on all of the fresh snow that had fallen while we were away. Funny, we go on a ski road trip to the infamous Powder Highway, and Cypress gets well over a metre! Love my local mountain.
Lions Express Quad chair was closed when I arrived. I believe they were trying to clear the snow and get it safe for the day. So instead of waiting in line, I decided to check and see if Raven Ridge Quad Chair was open, which it was. I started my black diamond day on First Sun with powder up to my waist. Continued to ride Shore Glades on to Meteor, and Black on Black. Super steep and super deep!
Burned back over to Lions Express Quad Chair to enjoy Slash, Crator Glades and Moons as I waited for Sky Chair to open. Huge snow pack makes everything on the mountain rideable, and opens up all of the glades.
Sky Chair opened and I was one of the first up to do Tom Cat and Glades. I finished my day lapping Top Gun three times, definitely the most beautiful run on the mountain when the conditions are right.
Having skied Cypress for over 30 years, it was one of those special days. Looking at the forecast, it would seem there are still plenty of those to come. When I arrived it was dumping snow on the mountain, and by the time I left, the sun was out.
As any skier/boarder knows, when there is over 50 cm of fresh snow, nothing else matters. There is only one thing to be done that day. Ride, Ride, Ride.
