Cypress Mountain is announcing a scheduled opening day of Friday, November 18th.
Our team has been working all summer preparing for a big snow season and now we’re scanning the mid-range weather projections and trends and we’ve determined that we should be ready to go for mid-November.
Over the last 11 seasons our average opening date has been November 20, however since we reconfigured our state of the art snowmaking system before the 2010/11 season, we’ve averaged a November 16 opening date—we’ll settle for somewhere in the middle!

“We are committed to undertake every effort to open the ski season as soon as possible and based on all the weather information we have reviewed, and looking at past results from our improved snow making system which we expanded for last season, we feel that we are in a pretty good position to project a November 18 opening” explained Joffrey Koeman, Sales & Marketing Director at Cypress Mountain. “Consistent with the long range forecasts from the NOAA and the Old Farmer’s Almanac, some of the leading forecast services are predicting that temperatures will start to drop fairly early in November and then hit snowmaking temps in week two with a good chance of some natural snow into week three.” More Info…
As always you can count on Cypress Mountain to open at the earliest date that snow conditions will allow so if we are fortunate to get earlier snow we will crank up the dial on that opening date!
Note: The Nordic Area, including the Gnarly’s Tube Park will be subject to a different projected opening date depending on weather conditions.
