The best freestyle skiers in the world are coming to Cypress Mountain for the Canada Post Freestyle Grand Prix presented by Ernst & Young. The more than 130 mogul and aerial athletes will arrive on Monday, February 4th and start training on the mountain on Wednesday, February 6th.
The FIS Freestyle World Cup action will start with a spectacular Opening Ceremonies at the Village at Park Royal starting at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 8th.
The Opening Ceremony show will include bands, street entertainment, a fire show, a parade of athletes (at about 6:00 pm) and more.
Competition starts on Saturday morning with moguls qualification at 9:00 am and finals will be that afternoon at 1:15 pm. There will also be a concert featuring Suzie McNeil (of Rock INXS fame) immediately following the competition on the Wintersong Stage.
Sunday will feature the awe-inspiring aerials competition again with qualifications at 9:00 am and finals at 1:15 pm. A Suzie McNeil concert will take place during the break and more bands will perform after finals that afternoon.
Everyone is invited, admission to all events is free. This is your chance to see some of Canada’s best athletes including World Champion mogul skiers Kristi Richards from Summerland, BC and Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau from Drummondville, QC; and FIS World Cup aerial champion Steve Omischl from Kelowna, BC.
